Join us for bilingual walk with our friends at Latino Outdoors. This is a 2.5 mile walk with a 500 ft. elevation gain over a gradual rise, lasting 1.5 hours. This is a relatively new trail within the City of San Luis Obispo’s Open Space. It gently climbs the north-facing side of Cerro San Luis, a dense oak woodland, with a diversity of understory plants and numerous views to both the north and east. The trail summits at the large concrete M (hence the name), visible from most of the city, then descends quickly to connect with the trail to the top of Cerro San Luis and a return to the trail head. Meet at the trail head at the end of Fernandez Lane and Marsh Street just before the onramp to Hwy 101 south (35.274331, -120.672541). Being a Saturday morning, if the parking lot is full, you will find parking along Higuera St. on the east side of US 101, and in the lot at 410 Higuera St. From Higuera St., it is a 3 min. walk on the north side of Marsh Street to the trail head. Arrive 15 min. early in case the trail head lot is full. Bring water, snacks, wear sturdy shoes, and dress in layers for changing weather. A hat and sunscreen are recommended. Please sign the Liability Waiver and register for this event by clicking the link below. More information, Bill (805) 459-2103. Rain or the threat of rain cancels.
