Class session is Aug 4, 2025 - Aug 26, 2025. Adult karate is a twofold class, devoted to introducing adults to Shorin-Ryu karate as well as providing a teaching and learning environment for our brown and black belts. Study for the adults will start with a basic karate etiquette, terminology, blocks, punches, kicks and stances, kicking techniques, stretching and exercise, basic routines and an introduction to the kata/forms. With 21 kata forms, students have a number of years to be introduced to and learn to perform these historical self-defense systems as they move up in ability and knowledge. For our instructors, as well as the brown and black belts, we will look in depth at our curriculum including self-defense, Yakusoto kumite and kumite drills, kata presentation, interpretation and application. Classes are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 PM. Class is held in the Centennial Park Banquet Room B on Mondays and Thursdays and in the Centennial Park Acorn Room on Tuesdays. Classes are under the supervision of internationally ranked 7th degree Okinawan black belt Ted Jacobson of Shorin-Ryu Karate.
