Monday - Friday, 8 - 11 AM. Our morning teams orchestrate an incredible process, including stocking shelves, sorting and bagging produce, boxing the groceries and exchanging information with the afternoon teams, as well as the next day's morning team. Mornings can be quite busy dealing with deliveries from the SLO Food Bank and groceries while making boxes to be distributed in the afternoon. All the incoming food has to be processed and shelved or refrigerated. To volunteer or learn more, visit https://www.volunteerslo.org/need/detail/?need_id=617395
Wildlife Hotline Volunteers are the front line in our efforts to support wildlife—like a 911 dispatcher of sorts. They are problem solvers who use a variety of resources to respond to questions and find help for wildlife in need. Hotline volunteers answer the Hotline either live or by checking the Hotline voicemail. Shifts are offered between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, 7 days a week, every day of the year. Hotline volunteers are supported by staff and online resources. They should be able to communicate calmly and courteously with callers who may be highly emotional, be able to use a computer, be well organized and detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
