Bye Bye Birdie is a musical satire about teen idol Conrad Birdie, inspired by Elvis Presley's draft, whose induction into the Army causes mass hysteria among his fans, leading his agent and secretary to orchestrate a final publicity stunt: a public kiss on The Ed Sullivan Show for a lucky fan, Kim MacAfee, in small-town Sweet Apple, Ohio, disrupting her life and town with rock & roll chaos, family drama, and generational clashes.
