Figuration and Atmosphere 4-Day Workshop

May 9 - May 12, 2026. Price: $1,367, includes lunch daily. Applications close on March 28th or when the class has been filled. Explore the creative process behind atmospheric figurative oil painting with Colombian artist, Johan Barrios. From reference photography to drawing and layered oil techniques, the focus will be on building mood and narrative through a personal, intuitive approach to the figure. Participants will focus on fundamental elements such as depth and composition, posing the figure, light, and color while learning to incorporate objects in unexpected ways to create tension, narrative complexity, and poetic ambiguity.
