Figuration and Atmosphere Workshop

Explore the creative process behind atmospheric figurative oil painting with Colombian artist, Johan Barrios. From reference photography to drawing and layered oil techniques, the focus will be on building mood and narrative through a personal, intuitive approach to the figure. A 4-day oil painting workshop focused on teaching my personal creative process through a combination of demonstrations, guided exercises, and one-on-one feedback. The workshop would emphasize both skill-building and conceptual exploration. Participants will focus on fundamental elements such as depth and composition, posing the figure, light, and color while learning to incorporate objects in unexpected ways to create tension, narrative complexity, and poetic ambiguity.
