July 8-10, 2025. 10am-12pm. For ages 6-12. Are you ready to get messy? We will be learning about printmaking tools & techniques that are sure to make a big impresson! Students will create a series of their own pop art style relief prints. We will also try Gyotaku, a traditional form of Japanese printing with real fish and seaweed on rice paper. $120/week includes all supplies and snacks. Mondays, 6-8:30pm. (3 sessions available: Session 1 - September 8th to September 29th / Session 2 - October 6th to October 27th / Session 3 - November 3rd to November 24th). These courses introduce beginners to the basics and provide a refresher class for more advanced students to practice the challenge of painting watercolors from a logical approach. Students will work at their own pace, in their own personal style. We’ll explore basic techniques to help you form your own library of approaches to different effects that you can then explore and combine. Our emphasis will be on guiding your own direction, color choices, subject matter and style preferences. Use your own photos, our occasional still life set-ups, and/or learn by trying to duplicate watercolor paintings of the masters. Classes are limited to 8 students. All paint out meetups are FREE and will begin at 9:30 on location. Please RSVP each week for the paintout you will attend – mrswothe@yahoo.com. This allows the group to know who they’re painting with. Lunch and optional critique to follow at 12:00 pm at agreed upon location near the initial meeting. All levels and all mediums welcome. “Anyone Can Learn to Oil Paint” is the motto of this 12-week Oil Painting Series. Instructor Anita Hampton believes anyone can paint and she’s ready to prove it. In three one-month sessions, you’ll learn to use materials and practice the essential skills of oil painting. Designed to be taken as a series or one month at a time, students will paint still life set-ups while learning color theory, value, perspective, lighting, design, composition, and more. These classes are held Thursdays from 6-8:30pm. Session 1 - September 4th to September 25th / Session 2 - October 2nd to October 23rd / Session 3 - October 30th to November 20. The cost of 1 session (4 classes) is $135 for members and $145 for non-members. 2 sessions (8 classes) is $262 for members and $276 for non-members. Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 12:30 - 3:30pm | COST: $100 Members / $110 Non-members. In this class, you will produce a study from a classical/renaissance painting or drawing, not with the goal of making a close replica, but to use as a foundation to explore how the figure is constructed. Sunday October 26, 2025 from 12:30 PM-2:30 PM. COST: $40 MBAA Members / $50 Non-Members. This workshop introduces students to the basics of creating digital art using an iPad, Apple Pencil and the Procreate App. The workshop will emphasize the steps artists take to create amazing images using digital tools. In this workshop students will experience step-by-step demonstrations that allow for individual guidance and real-time interactions between the teacher and participants. The goal will be to understand the basics of creating digital art. The class will use an iPad, an Apple Pencil and Procreate.
