Have a brilliant time learning to create vibrant, colorful illustrations using watercolor markers and ink pens. In this interactive workshop, we will learn simple techniques such as color blending, pointillism, etching, shading, light perspective, character development, concept, & design. Silk Artists of California Central Coast (SACCC) is a regional chapter of SPIN (Silk Painters International) whose members represent a wide range of silk artists who never seem to exhaust the infinite ways in which silk art can be expressed. These are not "classes" and there is no formal teaching (although there is lots of sharing and learning). It's an opportunity to work on your own projects with your own materials while picking up new skills among friends.

We are mostly watercolor-based but branch out into other media. We discuss all elements but mostly color and its interactions, and we explore composition, intention, and process. Price: $35/session. Do you have a story that you have always wanted to make into a reality by writing and illustrating it? Is there a character that you want to develop? If so, then this is the perfect workshop for you! Come with your ideas, no matter how vague or detailed they are, and we will guide you with simple steps to bring your character and story to life in an illustrated book! Learn to apply pressure and release to create the characteristic thicks and thins of this informal and fun lettering style. You will be engaged in a complete stroke by stroke demonstration of modern brush calligraphy using Pentel, Zig, Zebra and Flexible Point Sign Pen Brushes. Reoccurring Figure drawing group session the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. Open to all ages (permission needed for under 18). We will provide live model(s). This is an open studio style class with no guided instructions. Students are encouraged to bring whatever medium they desire. Community, critique, and positive encouragement are what this class is all about! Payment: $20 per session. We suggest bringing a $3-$5 tip for our models (but not required). We will push colors around, discover what we can do with the brushes, and enjoy the process. Your results will let you discover the possibilities that watercolor offers you. As we progress, we will experience and develop the basic techniques of watercolor painting and realize the characteristics of the medium. This class is designed for adults, including beginners and those with watercolor experience who wish to expand their knowledge of painting in watercolors.
