Unrecognized by one major candidate and used as a major fear tactic by another in our recent presidential election, the document has now come alive in the early days of the present administration. In his usual irreverent style, Ed Cabrera will update you on how this plan is taking shape. He will review how recent moves reflect the document and discuss the impact of the respective decisions. Possible checks on the moves by other branches of government of the federal government will be identified, when applicable, and suggestions on how you can deal with the changes on a personal level will also be shared. We will start with a brief history of organic agriculture in the USA, from core concepts developed from 1940-1990 and culminating in the USDA National Organic Program in 2002.
