Join us in the fight against hunger as a Warehouse Volunteer and play a vital role in supporting the SLO Food Bank's mission to provide nutritious food to families in need across our community. By assisting our dedicated Warehouse Staff, you'll help ensure that fresh produce, pantry staples, and no-cook items reach those who need them most. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns about the physical demands of this shift. Are you interested in helping to provide food for low income families in our community? ALF Food Pantry is in need of volunteers to to hand out pre-filled boxes and produce to clients. Volunteers self schedule and there are no minimum requirements. Food distribution to clients is 1 - 3PM Monday through Friday, and shifts for baggers are 12:45 to 3:15PM. Home-School Co-op (Mondays @ 1:00 - 3:30 pm) This program is for families who’ve chosen to educate their children at home. Parents and staff work together to provide opportunities for kids to interact and enjoy educational activities, socialization, spiritual growth and parental forums.
Jun 16, 2025 - Jun 20, 2025. Monday to Friday. Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm. This class is for ages 6-8. Location: 3533 Empleo St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. This one-week musical theatre camp is open to all experience levels. Along with theatre and improv games, students will sing, dance, and act as they work together to bring to life an abridged version of a popular musical. The class will end with a celebratory sharing for family and friends. Please note that repeated titles will be adapted for that class’ age range. This class will end with a “sharing” for family and friends on Friday, June 20. Because a good portion of our camp time will be spent preparing for the sharing, daily attendance is strongly encouraged. Mondays from 1 - 2 pm, Jul 7, 2025 - Jul 28, 2025. Location: Grover Beach Comm. Ctr - Main Room. Registration is $32.00. Based on Sun Style Tai Chi, this program uses flowing movements to increase muscular strength and protect joints. Good for those with arthritis and anyone wishing for more flexibility. Class includes warm-up exercises and movement sequences in an innovative teaching format that helps facilitate safe learning. Tai Chi may be performed in a chair or walker. Instructor, Dr. Kathryn Phelan, will facilitate this class combining a decade of teaching and research experience. Open Gym is hosted at Centennial Park Gym, located between Georgia Brown Dual Immersion Program and Paso Robles High School, and is easily accessible to community members. Open Gym is free and open to all ages. Participants can drop in to play a rotating list of games including basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, badminton, corn hole and more. Please note: Open Gym is a non-custodial program. Staff does not track when participants come and go. Open Hours: Monday: 1:30pm-5pm; Tuesday through Thursday: 2:30pm-5pm. The Teen Center is a free facility featuring video games, music, pool table, small cafe and much more. Located between Georgia Brown Dual Immersion Program and Paso Robles High School, the center is easily accessible to our young community members. The Teen Center is open to ages 6th through 12th grades and also enjoys access to the adjacent full-court gymnasium for drop-in basketball and other sports! The Teen Center is a non-custodial program. Participants will sign in but staff does not track when they come and go. Hours: Monday: Gym is open from 1:30pm-5pm, Teen Center from 2pm-5pm; Tuesday through Thursday: Gym is open from 2:30pm-5pm, Teen Center from 3pm-5pm. This is an ecumenical group of women & men who provide emergency food service on weekdays from 2-4:00 p.m. at 192B South 9th street & Rockaway, Grover Beach. Volunteers also work weekday mornings to receive & stock food. Coordinator: Fern Schilt 481-2877.
