Tues and Thurs from 12:40 - 1:30 PM in the deep end of the therapy pool at SLO Swim Center. Aqua Pilates is an introduction to core-centered (abdominal muscles and Lower back) poses and positions that help with posture, balance, and flexibility. All the movements are based on the principles of concentration, control, fluid movements, precise breathing, and strengthening of the torso. Participants are led through a progressive routine that continues to challenge them as they increase their strength and flexibility. This one-week musical theatre camp is open to all experience levels. Along with theatre and improv games, students will sing, dance, and act as they work together to bring to life an abridged version of a popular musical. The class will end with a celebratory sharing for family and friends. Please note that repeated titles will be adapted for that class’ age range. This class will end with a “sharing” for family and friends on Friday, June 20. Because a good portion of our camp time will be spent preparing for the sharing, daily attendance is strongly encouraged. The Worship Arts committee works with the Minister to plan Sunday services. Additional activities include: establishing the theme for each service, choosing the sermon topic, choosing hymns and appropriate music for the service, choosing readings, recruiting and confirming participants (guest speakers, musicians, choir, etc.) This event takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 1:30pm - 2:45pm. This class if for YMCA members and takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:30 pm in Studio 2. This class will emphasize core strength, flexibility, balance, and concentration. We are a safe place for trans* and gender non-conforming people, as well as those questioning. The group is restricted to those between the ages of 11 and 18. This is a facilitated informal support group (not therapy) where we hold fund, safe space for trans and non-binary youth. It is a safe place to be heard, to share your story, and to hear stories that may sound surprisingly like your own, to eat snacks, play games, socialize, and hang out.
